Primary Function:
Assists in preparing assembly and detail drawings, following the general instructions and directions of a senior. Assists in making various calculations such as strength of materials, weights, simple forces, and stresses, frequently using charts and tables. Assists in preparation of bills of material and specifications. The incumbent reports to the engineering manager.
Core
Responsibilities:
Assist in Preparing layouts, assembly, and detail drawings for new or improved products, special machinery design, test equipment, tools, fixtures, and gauge design.
Assist preparing initial drawings on designated test apparatus and monitors results.
Assist in Analyzing various design requirements and recommends possible solutions or alternate constructions. Also prepares and evaluates tolerance stack-ups.
Provides information when required for cost estimating, such as blank layouts and processing sketches.
Assists in making orthographic or isometric illustrations required for sales aids.
Understanding interdepartmental functions is essential to ensure that program schedules and objectives are met.
Secures quotations and expedites materials and delivery.
Originality and initiative are important as well as the ability to work under unusual or extreme pressures.
Other functions as needed
Qualifications:
One (1) to two (2) years' college or trade school education in mechanical drawing and related areas is helpful.
Well-rounded, practical experience may be substituted for formal training.
Able to move from design concept to finished design, including layouts and tolerance valuations and detail drawings.
Ability to learn, understand and follow company procedures is required.
Knowledge of Auto Cad, and / or Solid Works solid modeling is helpful.
Physical Requirements
Position is located in a mixed office and manufacturing environment. May involve physical activity such as bending, stooping, crouching, reaching, hand - eye coordination, manual dexterity and sitting for long periods of time.
